AN ISLAND OF WINES
Between sips, you put the glass against the light and look at the crystal-clear pale yellow wine… you spin it to let it breathe, you smell it, you savour it. It has a flowery touch; there are also tropical fruits, somewhat citric, perhaps. The wine waiter has told you it is a Tenerife wine and that it has been awarded several prizes. You get curious and go on asking to learn that the island has five Designation of Origin labels, that the richness of the soil and the microclimates encourage the cultivation of over eighty grape varieties which are unique in the world, such as tintilla, listán negro, volcanic malvasía or baboso, and its history goes back centuries. Don’t miss any detail of everything you hear. While you help yourself another glass of wine, the liquid seems to pour down at slow motion, spreading its full aroma. It is a unique moment, you raise your glass and looking at your friend’s eyes, you drink to that moment.
Cheers!
